Advanced Excel for Accounting & Finance

Move from basic spreadsheet use to the financial modeling and analysis skills every finance role assumes you already have.

Most finance roles don't test whether you can open a spreadsheet — they test whether you can build a model someone else can trust, audit, and reuse. This course closes that gap. It's built entirely around accounting and finance scenarios: three-statement models, budget-vs-actual reviews, variance analysis, and the formula patterns that show up in real month-end work, not generic office-productivity examples.

You'll work hands-on for the full course, building a financial model from a blank workbook through to a presentation-ready summary tab, learning the habits — clean structure, error-proofing, version control — that make a model something a controller or CFO can actually rely on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior Excel experience?

Yes — this course assumes comfort with basic formulas, formatting, and navigating a workbook. If you're newer to Excel, let us know and we'll point you to the right starting point first.

Is this general Excel training, or specific to finance?

Specific to finance. Every exercise uses accounting and finance scenarios — models, variance analysis, budget reviews — not generic business examples.

Can this be delivered in-house for our team?

Yes. We run this as a private cohort for finance teams across the GTA, and can adapt exercises to your own reporting templates where useful.

What version of Excel do I need?

Microsoft 365 or Excel 2021+ is recommended, since we cover dynamic arrays and modern lookup functions not available in older versions.
